Staples Prices in Koja Baru Market Tend to Be Stable

Entering the first week of 2023, the prices of staple foods in several traditional markets in North Jakarta are reportedly stable.

Prices are stable

As in the Koja Baru Market, Jalan Kramat Jaya, Tugu Utara Urban Village, Koja Sub-district. The chicken meat price which previously rose due to high demand during New Year's Eve has now returned to normal prices.

The hiking price was detected in the chili commodity. Sea fish did not experience price changes in the same way as the observed prices for meat, eggs, and spices tended to be stable.

One of chicken sellers at Koja Baru Market, Haji Sujatno expressed that ahead of the New Year celebration, the chicken price exceeded Rp 60,000 per head. But now the price is back to normal.

“Chicken price has been down since yesterday. Small domestic chicken is Rp 35,000 and big is Rp 45,000," he expressed, Wednesday (1/4).

As for the free-range chicken, prices remain stable in the range of Rp 125,000-Rp 150,000 per head. The price is higher than normal between Rp 110,000-Rp 120,000 per head.

Then an egg seller at Koja Baru Market, Agus Eko explained that the domestic chicken eggs price has been relatively stable recently at Rp 19,000-Rp 30,000 per kg. While for free-range chicken eggs, the price is Rp 2,500 per egg and duck eggs Rp 3,000 per egg.

"Prices are stable. We heard that the price of eggs will decrease," he uttered.

As for a beef seller, Suhendra admitted that the meat price recently has also been relatively stable. Supply and demand also did not experience a surge.

"I sell meat for Rp 140,000 per kg, oxtail Rp 100,000 per kg, shank Rp 140,000 per kg, and ribs Rp 100,000 per kg," he explained.

A spice trader, Darlin admitted that the spice price had not changed in recent times, likewise with demand and supply tend to be stable.

"I sell ginger for Rp 20,000 per kg, garlic Rp 30,000 per kg, and shallots Rp 30,000 per kg," he asserted.

Lastly, a vegetable seller, Aril added a significant hiking price had been seen in the type of chili in the last two days. For each kilogram of red chilies, he sells for Rp 110,000 per kg than the usual Rp 60,000, green cayenne pepper Rp 80,000 per kg than the usual Rp 50,000, and curly chilies Rp 80,000 per kg than the usual Rp 50,000.

"Otherwise nothing has increased. Prices are still stable as usual," he stated.
